The Summer Everything Changes

You have a new graduate in your life! What an accomplishment!! How’s that feeling? Like you expected it to?

This is the between summer – for them and you. It’s no longer the way it was, and never will be again, but the new normal sure hasn’t hasn’t started yet. They know it and you know it, and … well that’s why you’re here reading this. There’s no way to know what that’s going to look like for you.

You want to be present and enjoy every moment (as much as they’re willing to include you!) of their last summer at home – AND – you know your life is changing. Are you excited about that – or not so much?

This between place – the transition – it feels uncomfortable, doesn’t it?

So how are you going to walk through this? How have you done it before? Think back to the day you found out you were pregnant. You had nine months to prepare for that monumental change in your life. Where did you start? What did you do? If you’re like most of us, you probably read a lot of books and gathered tips from everyone you knew who was going through the same stage of life.

Fast forward to now. This is all part of your big momhood adventure, just another chapter. You haven’t been “here” before, but there are parts that may feel familiar. After all, it’s kind of like giving birth again, to a new you! You can create/unfold this adventure any way you want to.

Two facts: life isn’t going to be the way it’s been for the last 18 years … and … at this point you have no absolutely no idea how life will be after September.

So … you have a choice. You can do your best this summer to ignore this change, or you can take the very first step toward your new life and choose to spend time on YOU this summer!

Are you ready to start exploring? Here are some suggestions:

Seek guidance and support – you’re not meant to do this alone, any more than when you birthed your child. Look for someone who feels like a good fit – that makes all the difference in the world.

Look for tools and resources that speak to you: books, courses, blogs, facebook groups

Community – look for ones (online or in person) that welcome questions and conversation

There are hundreds of paths to follow and eventually, when you create the space, you’ll start noticing some that look interesting. There’s only one way to get this new life of yours in motion. Start. You can start exploring without having any idea where you’re headed. And here’s the secret – you won’t figure out where you’re headed until you do start. Really. I promise.

And last – Pause Reflect Reconnect was created for exactly this purpose. To give you an easy place to start right now.  You’ll have the summer to begin integrating and noticing which paths look like the ones you want to explore. I can’t wait to see what unfolds for you!

xx Jean
