Look In The Direction You Want To Go!

It’s a mantra worth repeating every morning. Not in the sense of always hustling, but rather with a spirit of curiosity, with arms wide open to the possibilities that are waiting for you!

You might find the thought of looking forward challenging, and I agree. It can be, especially when we want everything to stay the same! It might involve setting aside some of the things in your life that currently bring you comfort. (You can return to them!) The opportunity to look forward might be because of a transition. A change in your life making it impossible to keep everything the same, and if that’s the case, you’ll probably notice some resistance surfacing.

Because I work with moms who are preparing for and walking through a BIG transition in their lives, that’s my focus here. If you’re a mom who is sending a child off to college, or to begin their independent life, this is the first time you’re experiencing mothering when your child is no longer at home with you. Yes you’re still a Mom, but as of this moment, everything changes!

So … why look forward? Because life is ever changing. As much we might wish it weren’t so, there is no going back You’re at this place in the arc of motherhood because it’s time for them to start their own life adventure. It feels awkward and uncomfortable (for them too). Right now it’s all about giving yourself the space to figure out what moving forward means to YOU. Which parts of your life that bring you comfort are you going to keep? Which parts are you ready to move away from? Are there new interests you’ve been curious about exploring? Now’s your time!

You might not have answers to these questions yet. They’ll come! There are no right answers, only your answers. There is no recommended period of time to process everything you’re feeling right now. Motherhood is a journey and you can move forward at the pace that feels right to you. We’re all doing this together, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Trust the time it takes and keep looking in the direction you want to go!

xx Jean
