Begin Again

Here we are. 2019. I’m writing this post on January 1st and for weeks I’ve been feeling like I couldn’t wait for 2019 to get here. But this morning I woke up thinking “wait! I’m not ready!”

The holidays are behind us. You’ve navigated the return of your kids for the holiday break and now you’re getting ready for them to leave again. I didn’t get to see mine for the holidays. It seemed like a good idea at the time to avoid the craziness of holiday travel, but when Christmas Day actually got here, it didn’t feel like a good idea at all. Duly noted.

It’s always great to have them back, but with each return you’re more and more aware that they’re changing as they build their own separate life. It’s supposed to be that way, but of course there’s confusion. For both of you. They’re not sure what they want when they come home, and likely don’t yet have the self awareness to have given it any thought. Of course they still want all the good parts of Mom (meal and laundry services!), but now that they’ve been out on their own, they also want acknowledgement of their independence. And so the dance continues. The first time emotions of the fall may have been pretty raw. Now you can reassure yourself that you’ve lived through sending them off, you know more about what feelings to expect, and you know you can do this.

So back to today … what are you excited for in 2019? Are you a take charge, let’s make this happen kind of person?

OR

I’m going to wait and see what happens kind of person?

I’m wondering – do you feel a little more ready now than you did in September to start investing some time into exploring what’s next for you?

Check out Finding Your Start … because if you’re ready to start creating some change in your life now that you’re solidly in your post-kid chapter, maybe it’s time and you just need a plan!

I’m here for you!

xx Jean
