You Have A Story

I see you walking down the street every day. I look at your face, say hello when we pass, and I look at your eyes. You have a story. How do I know? Because we have some things in common.

This time in your life when your kids are launching is a unique time, unlike anything you’ve experienced before. You’ve been so busy doing the mom life that you’ve barely noticed the passing of time. You put off thinking about what’s next because … it seemed like there was plenty of time to focus on that question later. But – later is now and it’s time to start thinking about you.

Maybe you’ve been doing some reading about midlife / empty nest / life beyond kids. It’s called all sorts of things. Choose the one that feels most comfortable to you, but if I can make a recommendation, avoid the one that combines it with “crisis”. Because it’s not. Although the term “midlife” can feel a little unnerving, (as in OMG this is the middle of my life? It’s half over?), it’s just a new chapter. A new beginning.

You may have the most supportive partner, family and friends, but this may also be a challenging time for them because although they want to be helpful, but they haven’t experienced what you’re feeling. Be patient with them and reach out to other resources.

It’s time to begin this journey. Time to change how you’re going to show up for your life. Time to write a new ending to your story. And you know what? That story can be whatever you want it to be. So ask the questions. Take all the time you want. It’s ok to reach out even if it’s “just” to be heard and maybe the best news is we don’t have to do this alone.

Where do you start? Start by grabbing your Permission Slip over here to your right. You can download it, print it and even hang it where you’ll see it to remind yourself that this is an exciting new beginning. You get to redefine what’s possible in your life!

And just in case you do want some other resources, I’ll be right here, ready to support you in any way I can.

Big hugs –

Jean
