Chapters

Life, much like a book, has chapters.  Most of the time, one chapter ends before another begins.

I’ve spent the last 18 years sitting at this Steinway teaching piano students.  In the beginning it was 6 days a week with a lot of students.  This past year, by intention, it has been greatly reduced.  This chapter in my life is closing today when the last student of the day walks out the door for the final time.

It’s been said that we learn from each person who walks into our lives and I believe it’s true.  I could write a book about what I’ve learned from these students.  Some of them studied with me from kindergarten through high school graduation.  Some I’m still in touch with, and it’s those relationships that made it worthwhile and fulfilling for me.  I’m so grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to share music, and more importantly, life with them!

There are bittersweet emotions today.  The end of this chapter is tugging at my heartstrings, and at the same time, I’m really excited about the beginning of the next chapter as a Motivational Coach.  When you think about it, there are a lot of similarities.  I’ve been teaching motivation and how to build successful habits for the last 18 years.  Some days went better than others, but every day has been full of opportunities to learn.  So much of what I’ve taught will be carried over into the next chapter.

Eighteen years of motivating piano students.  Next chapter – motivating people with their LIVES!  The journey to get to this new beginning has been a winding one, but one that has been calling to me for quite awhile.

Over the summer I’ll be working on business and website development.  I hope you’ll follow the progress and join our community!
